Encouraging Education Through Entertainment
HISTORY Unleash’s vision is to help youths based in Lagos Mainland(Ikeja, Surulere, Mushin) who aspire to earn a good education by exposing their talents to earn an income towards it. We began our journey in July 2008 and the team has successfully held 4 events unleashing talents of youths aged 18-25 in the music and dance genres of the entertainment industry.
On our journey, Emoire Events Company has taken our program under their wings as they have managed other philanthropy programs in the past 3 years. We are now at a point to connect our vision to encourage our youths to go back to school and gain a higher level of education or apprenticeship in the entertainment industry as a backup to their entertainment careers. Emoire and Concept tutors have helped us perfect the focus of our program to truly assist youths. Our immediate future is to set up monthly scouting programs and talks to promote our vision. We also hope to develop a sponsorship division to help set 1 lucky participant at our event in gaining minimum education level of HND.
MISSION
Our initiative’s purpose is to get the youths in our neighborhood off the streets, away from a life of crime, violence and unemployment through entertainment and getting them back to school.
STRATEGIC PROGRAMS
Unleash takes on two angles to encourage youths to be more attuned to a solid future by getting educated either in an institution or via apprenticeship in a company. Unleash’s strategy is to provide a platform to show off their talents and at the same time spark up their attention to this very important aspect of their lives. We attract them by supporting their dreams on stage thereby opening a channel where they (both performers and audience) value what we bring to the table in encouraging them to get an education either theory or practical.
Smart Entertainment This is our angle in encouraging young entertainers to get into a higher education programs in a National Open University and State Polytechnic Colleges. Courses they choose can help them get jobs to back up their aspiring careers. We will be inviting colleges to take up stall space to give our performers and audience access to information on courses available.
Apprenticeship Xtra Companies in the entertainment industry offer apprenticeship positions. We are working on solid partnerships with these companies to ensure regular entrants are selected from their attendance at our events. Performers and the audience will be asked to register at the door and put their interest in the entertainment industry and will be contacted by these companies when a position is available.
